2009 European HBS Alumni Sailing Weekend
Coast of Croatia and its Kornati islands
The 2009 European HBS Alumni Sailing Weekend.
Thursday, October 15 - Sunday, October 18, 2009
We will explore the coast of Croatia and its Kornati islands being one of the most beautiful European sailing destinations.
Information is available on many websites such as
http://kroatien-charter.net/klima-kroatien.html
or
http://www.scansail.de/reviere_mittelmeer/kroatien_revierinfos.html.
We will depart from and return to a base near Split. Direct flights to Split are possible from many European cities.
The sailing yachts will range from 40 ft to 50 ft in size with 4 - 5 cabins. Each boat will carry a crew of 4 - 6 HBS alumni allowing comfortable space for everyone. Depending on wind and wheather we will sail about 4 - 8 hours per day and be in a harbour or at anchor for the evening and night. We will sleep on the boats. Breakfast and Lunch will be prepared by the crew and eaten on the boats. Each crew will decide for itself about dinner on the boat or in a restaurant.
No previous sailing experience is required. For those with limited or no sailing experience, this is an ideal opportunity to find out if you like sailing.
For experienced sailors: This will be a relaxed sailing trip with clear focus on fun and getting to know each other. Also, if you are prepared and willing to skipper a boat, please contact the organizers with a brief description of your experience level.
Crew assignment: Crews will be assigned by the organizers. We will assign crews balancing sailing experience with beginners and experienced sailors. We will try to crew as many of our yachts as possible with HBS participants only. For those boats for which we are not able to provide our own skipper, we will hire a professional skipper from the charter company.
Participants: The event is open to HBS alumni and their partner or significant other.
Location: Kornati Islands, Coast of Croatia
Time: Arrival of participants at the marina until Thu, Oct 15, 2009 13:00 (1 pm)
Return of the boats to the marina: Sun, Oct. 18, 2009, approx 12:00 noon
Cost: EUR570 per participant (EUR 200 per partner or significant other if sharing a cabin)
